IBI Group-Developed Technology Roadmap Supports City of Coquitlam in its Agile Response to COVID-19
VANCOUVER, B.C. (June 24, 2020) – Global design and technology firm, IBI Group (TSX:IBG), in collaboration with the City of Coquitlam, developed the City’s Technology Roadmap — a comprehensive, five-year guide to selecting and operating technology-driven urban solutions — which is now being leveraged to support the City’s response to COVID-19. IBI Group began consulting with the City on its technology strategy in 2018, culminating in the creation of its 2018-2022 Technology Roadmap and the deployment of several leading-edge solutions. Most recently, the City has leveraged the Technology Roadmap to mount an agile and technology-forward response to the pandemic and resulting physical distancing protocols, including enabling remote building inspections and virtual emergency and recreation services.
Conceived to offer guidance on the pursuit of a technology-enabled future, the City of Coquitlam’s Technology Roadmap identifies six initiatives that reflect its commitment to improving services and access to resources for citizens. Each initiative provides the City with options for leveraging new technologies or adapting its existing solutions to solve its most pressing issues. In addition to IBI Group, the City consulted with residents, local businesses, and its own Youth Council on the development of the Roadmap, perspectives that are reflected in the strategy’s ability to respond quickly to diverse and changing needs in the face of the pandemic.
“Working with IBI Group to define and deploy our Technology Roadmap has provided the City with the technology infrastructure necessary to respond agilely to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the City of Coquitlam’s Manager, Information Communication and Technology, Danny Bandiera. “Solutions including expanding remote working capabilities across the City’s workforce, and providing residents remote access to the City’s Community Information Hub, have proved to be essential components of the City’s crisis management strategy, and will continue to provide benefits to citizens throughout the pandemic and beyond.”
Headquartered in Toronto, ON, IBI Group offers its clients a diverse range of tech-forward products and services, and is well positioned to support both public and private sector clients as they respond to evolving economic and public health challenges. Since acquiring Aspyr Engineering Ltd. in 2019, following several successful P3 project collaborations, IBI Group has incorporated the technology company’s expertise, senior resources and enhanced capabilities in the areas of information communication and smart buildings into its broader service offering.
